Amazing Junk

Built in 1397 as a retirement villa for Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, is a three-story building, with the last two, fully covered with pure gold leaf. The temple was set on fire by a monk in 1950, but it was restored and the new gold coating dating from 1987 is much thicker than the original one.
